Investing in Our Future
Oregon’s tax structure is broken. Amidst record corporate profits, funding for public education, health care for low-income families and critical services for seniors are on the chopping block. Meanwhile, the tax burden is shifting onto the backs of those who can least afford it, including working families, students and small businesses. The impact is even deeper in many communities of color still struggling to make ends meet under unfair economic policies that favor those with wealth and privilege. 2019 is the year we can level the playing field and create economic opportunity for all Oregonians.

Oregon has a shot at investing in our future and creating a more fair tax system. The free ride we are giving corporations and the very wealthy in our state is on the backs of communities of color and low income Oregonians. It’s not fair—and it’s not in line with Oregon’s values.
Here in Oregon, the tax burden has shifted onto the backs of those who can least afford it, including working families, students and small businesses over the past 30 years. Contact the Joint Committee on Student Success and ask them to support the Student Success Act.
